Sofubi was exhibited at TOKYOSAI in Paris, France
1月31日～2月4日まで、フランス パリで開催されたTOKYOSAIに、日本を代表するTOYとして展示されました！
From January 31 to February 4, Sofubi was exhibited at TOKYOSAI in Paris, France, as a TOY representing Japan!
会場となるMagasins générauxは、現在活発に開発が進んでいるパンタン地区に位置し、若手アーティストが多く集まるスポットとして有名です。そんな会場で第一回目の東京祭-TOKYOSAI-は開催されました。
The venue, Magasins généraux, is located in the Pantin district, which is currently under active development and is famous as a gathering place for many young artists. The first TOKYOSAI was held at such a venue.
TOKYOSAIは日本の文化祭をイメージしたそうで、アート、カルチャー、フード、音楽などを来場したお客様が一緒に楽しめるような展示となっていました。
TOKYOSAI was inspired by Japanese cultural festivals, and the exhibit was designed to allow visitors to enjoy art, culture, food, and music together.
そんないつものソフビイベントとはひと味違った雰囲気の会場に、TOKYOSAIに出品いただいた18の団体/作家さん達の68種類のソフビ達が集結！
会場に入るとパッと目に入る場所にソフビ達が並んでいました。
広い空間に組まれた棚に並ぶ様子は、お気に入りのコレクションを並べているような感じ！日本ではなかなかこのような展示を見ることがないので、とっても新鮮で感動しました。ソフビが大好きな主催者の佐藤ジュリアンさんも、「フランスで、こんなにたくさんのソフビを展示するのは初めてだと思う。」と嬉しそうに言っていました。
In a venue with a different atmosphere from the usual sofubi events, 68 types of sofubi from 18 organizations/artists who exhibited at TOKYOSAI were gathered!
The sofubi were displayed in a place that caught my eye as soon as I entered the venue.
They were lined up on shelves in a large space, like a collection of one’s favorite items! It is very rare to see this kind of exhibition in Japan, so it was very fresh and impressive. The organizer, Mr. Julien Sato, who loves soft vinyl, said happily, “I don’t think I have ever seen so many sofubi on display in France before.”
会期中、来場者は興味深そうにゾロゾロとソフビブースに集まってきます。スマホを片手に撮影しながらひとつひとつのソフビをじっくりみる人。ソフビブース担当のフランソワの説明に耳を傾ける人。日本から持っていったフランス語訳のカタログを開きながら、カタコトの英語とジェスチャー＆スマホ翻訳アプリで紹介すると、嬉しそうに話を聞いてくれました。
During the exhibition, visitors gathered at the sofubi booth in droves, looking very interested. Some people took photos of the sofubi one by one with their cell phones in their hands and looked at them carefully. Some listen to the explanation of François, the soft vinyl booth manager. They were happy to listen to me as I introduced them with my poor English, gestures, and a smartphone translation app, while opening the French translation of the catalog I brought from Japan.
ソフビを見ている人たちは日本でいう「ソフビ（人形）」というより、むしろ「オブジェ」として興味を持っていて、それぞれのデザインに目を輝かせていました。その中でも「かわいい」「カラフル（明るい色）」「日本らしい」ソフビが購入に繋がっているなと感じました。
People were interested in sofubi as “objects” rather than “sofubi (dolls)” as we call them in Japan, and their eyes lit up at the different designs. Among them, “cute,” “colorful (brightly colored),” and “uniquely Japanese” sofubi seemed to lead to purchases.
実際に興味を持ってくださった方々にお話を聞いて、こういう感じがフランス人は好きなんだ…と新しい発見でした！
After talking to people who were actually interested in sofubi, I realized that this is the kind of feeling the French like…it was a new discovery!

ロンドンで開催されるTOY系イベント「TOYCON」に、毎年行っているというフランスのソフビファンの方もいました。（今回、ボランティアで参加してくれたフランソワ君もその一人。）日本から集結したソフビ達をみるのが楽しみだったと言っていました。
There were a few French soft vinyl fans who go to TOYCON, a toy-related event held in London, every year. (One of them was François, who volunteered for the event this time.) He said he was looking forward to seeing the sofubi from Japan.
少しずつですが、ヨーロッパにもソフビの波が来そうな予感…です！
Little by little, I have a feeling that a wave of sofubi will come to Europe…!

街中の壁面があるところには、グラフィックがいっぱいありました。
同じ作家さんのグラフィックがあちこち点在していて、ストーリー感もあり見ていて楽しかったです。
Wherever there were walls in the city, there were lots of graphics.
The same artist’s graphics were scattered here and there, and it was fun to see them with a sense of story.
せっかくパリに行ったので、ルーブル美術館のピラミッドに行ってきました！
キングジョーモンもご機嫌！
Since I went all the way to Paris, I visited the Pyramid at the Louvre!
