東京の現代アート全般、音楽や日本が誇る食を楽しめる新しいアートフェスティバル、「TOKYOSAï」が2/1～2/4の4日間、パリのパンタン地区にあるMagasins Générauxで開催されます。
近年国内外で急速に人気が高まってきているソフビをフランスでも紹介するために、THAT IS GOODはこのイベントのアートトイ/ソフビコーナーに展示するソフビのキュレーションを担当させていただきました！

TOKYOSAï, a new art festival featuring all aspects of contemporary art from Tokyo, music, and Japan’s famous food, will be held at Magasins Généraux in the Pantin district of Paris for four days from February 1 to February 4.
In order to introduce sofubi, which has been rapidly gaining popularity in recent years both in Japan and abroad, to France, THAT IS GOOD was asked to curate the sofubi to be displayed in the Art Toys/Sofubi Corner at this event!

About TOKYOSAI

東京のコンテンポラリーカルチャーとライフスタイルに特化したアートフェスティバル「TOKYOSAï」。
第1回目となる今回は、4日間にわたり、東京の精神とクリエイティブな多様性を祝います。
現代アート、グラフィックデザイン、オブジェデザイン、デジタルアート、音楽、そして食の発見を、東京の建築を彷彿とさせるMAGASINS GÉNÉRAUXの舞台で紹介します。
コンテンポラリー・アートは、このイベントを貫く共通項であり、若手からベテランまで多数のアーティストによるインスタレーションが展示されます。コンセプト・ストアやアートトイのコーナーでは、日本のデザイングッズを購入することができます。
コーヒー・バーでは日本の特産品や日本酒の試飲もできます。週末にはライブ演奏もあり、パリにいながら東京にいるような気分を味わえるイベントです！

TOKYOSAï is an art festival dedicated to contemporary culture and lifestyle in Tokyo.
This 1st festival will celebrate the spirit and creative diversity of Tokyo over 4 days.
Contemporary art, graphic design, object design, digital art, music, and culinary discoveries will be presented in a setting reminiscent of Tokyo’s architecture at MAGASINS GÉNÉRAUX.
Contemporary art is the common thread that runs through the event, with installations by numerous artists, both young and established, on display. Japanese design goods will be available for purchase in the concept store and art toy section.
Visitors can sample Japanese specialties and sake at the coffee bar. On weekends, there will be live music, so you can feel like you are in Tokyo even though you are in Paris!

ついにTHAT IS GOOD事務所に勢揃いした日本を代表するソフビたち！
ソフビ担当Iは「へぇ～これは6パーツにもなっているのか！塗装も素晴らしい！」と感動し、担当Fは「全部欲しくなっちゃう！」とコレクター意欲が掻き立てられました！

Finally, the THAT IS GOOD office has a full lineup of Japan’s leading soft vinyl toys!
I, the sofubi staff member, said, “Wow, this is in six parts! And the paint job is amazing!” and she was impressed, and F, also the sofubi staff member said, “I want all of them! It’s so cool!” and the collector’s desire was stirred!

実はTHAT IS GOODでは今回の主催者の佐藤さんのご協力もあり、1年ほど前にアートフェアでソフビを展示する機会をいただいたのですが、まず「ソフビとは何ぞや？」というところから説明をしなければならないくらいで、フィギュアが好きな数人が「ソフビ」と聞いてピンと来る程度の認知度で、まだまだこれからのマーケットだな…という壁を感じていました。
そんな苦い経験をした数ヶ月後、今回日本に興味がある人向けにターゲットを絞ったイベントTOKYOSAIのお話を佐藤さんから説明を受け、ぜひパリでソフビの魅力を届けるお手伝いをさせてほしい！とお願いしてキュレーションをさせていただくことになりました。
50個以上のソフビがパリに集まることはおそらく初ではないかと思いますので、これからのソフビヨーロッパ開拓時代のためにも、多くの方に見て知っていただける機会となることを期待しています！
開催期間中にパリに行かれる方はぜひ足を運んでみてください！

Actually, THAT IS GOOD was given the opportunity to exhibit soft vinyl toys at an art fair about a year ago, with the cooperation of Mr. Sato, one of the organizer of Tokyosai, but we had to start from the beginning by explaining “what is soft vinyl toy”, and we felt that the recognition level of “sofubi” was only enough for a few people who like figures to get the idea.
A few months after that bitter experience, Mr. Sato told us about TOKYOSAI, an event targeting people interested in Japan, and we asked him to help us bring the appeal of sofubi to Paris, and we agreed to curate the event.
This is probably the first time that more than 50 soft vinyl toys will be gathered in Paris, so we hope that this will be an opportunity for many people to see and learn about “SOFUBI” for the future pioneering era of sofubi Europe!
