A Great Heritage Buried in the Earth 9

June 9-28, 2013

Finally, my longed-for fieldwork in Aswan, the holy city of Nubia, began. Since the Nubians are the original inhabitants of Egypt/East Africa, in other words, the people with the oldest history among human beings, I wanted to feel a glimpse of their history, so I visited a temple called Philae Temple, which has the same background as the Abu Simbel Temple, which is also a World Heritage site.

World Heritage Sites are famous places in the world and on the earth.
I think people have a clean and good image of a World Heritage site, a sacred place that should be preserved.
I was thinking the same way. However, when I learned that the Abu Simbel Temple is the first World Heritage site, I was skeptical about the World Heritage system.

First of all, its registration criteria

This World Heritage Site was inscribed on the World Heritage List after meeting the following criteria.
(The following criteria are taken from Wikipedia, the World Heritage Center‘s published criteria for registration.)
•(1)”To represent a masterpiece of human creative genius”
•(3)”To bear a unique or at least exceptional testimony to a cultural tradition or to a civilization which is living, or which has disappeared”
•(6)”To be directly or tangibly associated with events or living traditions, with ideas, or with beliefs, with artistic and literary works of outstanding universal significance”
•(The World Heritage Committee considers that this criterion should be used in combination with other criteria.)

You’ll see there, but

All of these temples were built by the British government and the Egyptian government (which, as mentioned earlier, is Arab, i.e., a government without Nubia, the indigenous people) to build a huge dam at the very important site of Aswan, the sacred place and living place of Nubia, by cutting all the structures there into cubes of about 10 meters, moving them to different locations, and rebuilding the temple as if it had originally been there!

Isn’t that a surprising fact to anyone?

That’s the World Heritage No. 1??!!

As a side note, and I think this is an important core of the conspiracy theory, ancient Rome was, of course, the first super-massive invading nation, and their theory was that the most effective way to extinguish the spirit of the other nation or tribe and to rule, control, subdue, and subjugate them was to destroy the so-called “sacred places” related to their cherished ancestors.

Conversely, once the sacred places are destroyed, they will eventually lose track of where they came from, and the so-called rootless will be easy to brainwash and thus easy to subjugate.

What a horrible thing.

But I have seen the exact same situation in Japan, right in front of my eyes.

It is a dam built in Nibutani, the sacred land of the Ainu people in Hokkaido.

I was only about 20 years old in 1995, and I never took a single class on the Ainu when I was a student, but I was aware, perhaps from Osamu Tezuka’s manga, that there were indigenous people in Japan, who had been exterminated by the Emperor and his related powerful families who had prospered since the present Yayoi period, and driven to the backcountry, and that they had been erased from history.
However, there was a rather large event space called MO in Shibuya, where we later decided to hold our own party called RHYTHM FREAKS, and there we met a musician and selector named MIGHTY MASSA, who was the first to introduce the Jah Shaka style to Japan, and who sadly passed away the other day. At the party of the musician selector MIGHTY MASSA, who was the first to introduce the Jah Shaka style to Japan, there was an announcement: “A dam is about to be built in Nibutani, the sacred land of the Ainu people. Sign the petition against it!”
It was a very interesting topic for a young man like me, who was originally interested in politics, history, and attracted to tribalism, and I was of course outraged and signed the petition.

In 2002, seven years after the signing, I visited Nibutani, which had already been destroyed by the construction of a dam, with my sons who had just been born, when I was invited several times a year to Precious Hall, a famous restaurant in Sapporo (which is also considered a sacred place for houses, lol).

The following is an Ainu folk art show? at Lake Akan, which I visited by car at that time and

It was built as a museum after the village of Nibutani was sunk in the dam.

It is surprising that the following and others closely resemble the patterns of Native Americans in North America, especially Canada, such as the RedHotChilliPeppers tattoo.

I was able to see the records at the archives, but all I could say was that my thoughts and feelings at the time were that I couldn’t stand it anymore.

And somehow it was a full moon again that night.

I have no physical knowledge of Ainu history (although it is possible that I may be mixed), nor have I lived in Hokkaido or have any relatives in that area, so I have no memory of it, but I was disappointed to learn that I could no longer see the Kotan, the Ainu living quarters that I would have seen seven years ago.

It might be an exaggeration to say that it was like looking at the wreckage of a ruined human city, but I think the emotion was close to that.

Anyway, it was a sad scene.

Yes, this situation and Aswan are exactly the same, and it is clear that politicians, construction companies, and financiers are in cahoots, and a “conspiracy” of “cultural erasure” and “ethnic cleansing” is involved, along with a huge amount of business.

After that one incident in Nibutani, when I researched dam construction, I learned that too often dams are ‘intentionally’ built in places that clearly do not need to be destroyed, should not be destroyed, and are important on a cultural level.

As I said, there is huge business involved, including nuclear power, and there may be some employment and easy money flowing to the area, so there are local people who jump at the chance to praise the project, but they are truly traitors.
They have become traitors who have buried the memory of their ancestors.

Things got heated from the beginning, though,

Let’s move on to the pictures.

Knowing such a fact
I can only feel somewhat empty.

It is indeed an amazing structure and a great work of art.
But it looks like a soul-less corpse pieced together and made into a specimen.

Does the soul dwell because of the land of its birth,,
Does it exist only in that land?

I believe that the soul is not material, nor is it limited to a place.
But what is this sense of absence??

I have seen abandoned shrines and temples in Japan.
There are usually “something” there, perhaps because there are not zero but a few people praying.

But I could not feel it here at all.
I guess there is no one to pray for.

I have only been here a short time, so I don’t fully understand everything, but I wonder if it is because more than 90% of the people living in Aswan are now Muslim, and the religious thought and consciousness of this “ancient Egypt” has completely ceased to exist in the long history of the city.

I also bought and read the book “Flower of Life,” which has become a bible for those people, a long time ago, but to be honest, there was a lot of guesswork and speculation that I did not understand, and the author himself is not a local nor does he have any memories of it, so I did not feel it was realistic.

However, I can see that this civilization of “Ancient Egypt” is terribly advanced and clearly different from other civilizations.

To be more specific, they are not human-like.

I am not an alien believer, but I do not believe that humans are the only advanced civilization in this large universe.

And although it is a short time for one human being, we cannot deny the possibility that such aliens have visited us during our long history on this planet.

Not that I want to think that, but there are many things in this world that I don’t think can be done without someone leading this construction and its wisdom.

We would have called it ‘God’.

In any case, there is no doubt that there were those whose wisdom was beyond the reach of ordinary people like us.

Still now?

With these thoughts in mind, I walk through the sparsely populated sanctuary (“tentative”).

In the end, we still don’t know exactly what this civilization is all about.

I wonder if the people who built the dam knew about it.

In any case, there may be a hint in the sounds and vibrations played by the Nubian people living in “Now”.

Because it is intangible, it is in sound that no one can destroy.
